L-shape
Area and perimeter, with the formula worked through and a drawing to scale.
Result
- Area
- 252 sq ft
- = 252 sq ft · 23.4116 m²
- Perimeter
- 70 ft
- = 70 ft · 21.336 m
The working
Area: A = L × W − l × w
Perimeter: P = 2(L + W)
A = 20 × 15 − 8 × 6 = 252 P = 2(20 + 15) = 70
Values in feet; areas in sq ft.
About the l-shape
An L-shaped room or deck: the full rectangle minus the missing corner. Its perimeter is the same as the full rectangle's, because the notch moves two walls without changing their total length.
Every formula on this site is explained step by step in Learn: area and perimeter.
